2022 Christmas Events in Tavistock
Christmas cheer is quickly spreading throughout the South West this year and Tavistock has more to offer locals and visitors than ever! Whether you’re looking to kick-start your Christmas shopping, or looking for somewhere to sing along with your favourite Christmas tunes, Tavistock has it all! Read on to discover the Christmas events happening at the Guildhall and the rest of the town.
Christmas Craft Workshops, The Bedford Hotel (1st, 4th, 11th & 18th December)
Add a personal flare to your Christmas decorations this year by making a wreath, garland or table centrepiece at a Christmas Craft Workshop at The Bedford Hotel. Take part in the morning session and you’ll also be able to enjoy coffee and mince pie on arrival, plus a two-course festive lunch. Or if you opt for the afternoon session, you can enjoy mulled wine on arrival and a festive afternoon tea.
Tavistock Dickensian Evening (2nd December)
From 5pm on Friday 2nd December, Tavistock will be celebrating their much-loved Dickensian evening, a magical late night shopping event that transports you back in time to the Dickensian era. The event kick-starts the festive season throughout the town to allow locals and visitors to embrace the Christmas spirit and start their Christmas shopping. The streets will be filled with plenty of stalls selling handmade goods and gifts along with street performers and many of the businesses and shops in the area will be open until late. Parking here will be free from 3pm to allow visitors to arrive early to enjoy all the festivities on offer.
Christmas Tree Festival, St Eustachius Parish Church (2nd – 11th December)
A stunning display of Christmas trees will be on show at St Eustachius from 2nd – 11th December. This display has been put together by community groups, businesses and schools to help raise money for the church. Throughout the event there will be live music and refreshments on offer to keep everyone feeling festive and cheerful!
Magic of Christmas Market, Tavistock Butchers’ Hall (2nd, 4th& 14th– 23rdDecember)
Tavistock Butchers’ Hall is found in the thriving market complex of the Pannier Market. They will be hosting a Magic of Christmas Market on 2nd, 4th and 14th December. There will be a great selection of stall holders, highlighting the very best our region has to offer. Entry here is free so why not pop along to kick start your Christmas shopping. The market will be held on the 2nd, 4th of December and daily between the 14th – 23rd December.
Stannary Brass Band, Bedford Square (3rd December & 24th December)
Throughout the morning on Saturday 3rd December the Stannary Brass Band will be performing in Bedford Square. They’ll play a selection of Christmas music so head into town to bask in the festive atmosphere and listen to a medley of festive tunes.
Christmas Party Nights, The Bedford Hotel (9th, 10th, 16th, 17th December)
If you’re looking to find somewhere to celebrate the festive season with the office, or simply want a fun night out with friends and family, why not book a Christmas Party Night with The Bedford Hotel. Enjoy a delicious festive, three-course dinner at The Bedford Hotel’s restaurant, Gallery 26, before hitting the casino tables and dancing the night away.
Festive Love Local Gift Market, Tavistock Butcher’s Hall (10th December)
Tavistock Butchers’ Hall will also be hosting another Christmas market on 10th December presented by Miss Ivy Events, an independent company who organise various events in the South West. There will be a fabulous array of Yuletide-themed gift and local produce exhibitors offering a great selection of items to buy as Christmas presents, or to add to your own wish list!
The Tin Sail collective presents: Songs for Wintertide, Tavistock Wharf (11th December)
Suthering and Windjammer, two of the finest English Folk bands are coming together to form The Tin Sail Collective and perform a special Christmas show of winter-themed folk songs. After a successful, sell-out performance at The Barbican in Plymouth in 2021, this event is not to be missed!
Tavistock Court Comedy Club, Tavistock Guildhall (16th December)
For the final time in 2022 Tavistock Court Comedy Club will be returning to Tavistock Court at the Guildhall on 16th December. This event promises to be full of laughs and plenty of Christmas cheer to see you into the festive period.
